Experience savour on the run!
At Henkell best times are not the focus. Of course there is an award ceremony. But above all, you gain special moments and a great time alone or with your friends. Whether you run a half marathon or marathon is up to you and can be decided on the spur of the moment. Wine tastings (including non-alcoholic) are compulsory. You enjoy nature and historic sceneries, discover regional delicacies at the refreshment stations and let yourself be enchanted by the hospitality of the Rheingau wine estates.
At Henkell leads you right through the Rheingau – past vineyards, historic castles and the Rhine, with at least ten refreshment stops as little festivals, where sports nutrition, mandatory wine tastings (including non-alcoholic) and local specialities await you, while your wine glass is ready in the shoulder bag. Pure savour over 21.1 or 42.2 kilometers.
Changes and adjustments to the route are subject to official approval.
Start and finish at Schloss Henkell (Henkell Castle):A shuttle bus takes you to the boat landing in Biebrich, from there you ferry to Rüdesheim and walk to the start. In start groups you run with the Niederwalddenkmal behind you, vineyards on the left and the Rhine on the right. On the route you pass Geisenheim, keep Schloss Johannisberg in sight and reach Schloss Vollrads. In Oestrich-Winkel the view opens to Wiesbaden, before you pass the half marathon mark in Hattenheim. Half marathon finishers return by boat and shuttle bus from there back to Schloss Henkell and celebrate with sparkling wine and regional delicacies. For marathon runners it continues via Erbach to Eltville on the Rhine, through Walluf and flat along the riverbank to Schiersteiner Hafen. Through the Schlosspark of Biebrich the final climb leads into the Ehrenhof of Schloss Henkell.
